Tourists were trapped in Turkey due to inability to pay the bill

A couple of tourists said they were locked up in Turkey until they could pay their medical bills after the emergency. According to the Express, a couple of Britons were vacationing in Sid when the incident occurred.

During a carefree two-week vacation at a resort hotel, the man became ill. He was taken to the intensive care unit, where it was found that he had bleeding in the lungs. When the doctors did everything necessary, the tourist was allowed to fly home to continue treatment. However, there is a problem: they cannot do so until the bill for the patient’s treatment in a Turkish hospital has been paid.

Before flying on vacation, the couple took out insurance, but the man’s companion claimed that the company refused to pay the entire bill. Not indifferent began to send money to tourists trapped. As a result, vacationers managed to collect more in the hryvnia equivalent of 55 thousand to return home to the UK from a nightmarish trip.

“A few days later, on May 16, Sol (husband) began to complain of back pain, which, in our opinion, was associated with a hotel bed. Over the next few days, the pain only worsened, and we asked the hotel manager to arrange a doctor’s appointment. But after describing his symptoms, an ambulance arrived to pick up the man for tests, “the woman said.

At the hospital, the tourist was scanned, which showed that he had blood in his lungs. He was then taken by ambulance 136 km to Antalya Hospital for treatment.

“The hospital treatment was fantastic, and a few days ago Sol was allowed to fly back to Belfast with oxygen so he could get further treatment at the Royal Hospital, as he will probably need it for another six months. However, our problems arose when we tried to pay our medical bills with an insurance company, which was not very useful, “added the traveler, noting that a representative of the insurance company told her that they would pay only half the bill.

She added that over time, the medical bill became “more and more”. Now the couple fears they could be stuck in Turkey for several more months if they fail to pay their medical bills. “I have a son at home, whom I was supposed to see two weeks ago, and I don’t know when I will see him next time,” the tourist complained.

A friend of the tourist created a page to help the couple collect the necessary amount they had to pay for medical services. As of the morning of June 8, 381 people had made donations. Thus, the couple collected a little less than half the required amount. The woman complained that she did not know what to do if the entire amount could not be collected.
