It can take a lot of time to go through the security check before the flight. Experts shared with HuffPost advice on what clothes tourists should not wear if they do not want to get stuck at the airport.
Former traffic safety officer Jasmine Washington said: “Don’t wear clothes that are too loose, too tight, or too sequined. It attracts the attention of the equipment and makes it more likely that you will be searched. This will result in a delay in the queue for you and other people.”
Footwear is also important if the passenger wants to pass through the checkpoint without any problems. Since most airports now require you to remove your shoes, Jasmin recommends choosing something easy to put on and take off, and be sure to wear socks. “My favorite travel shoes are clogs, flats, and crocs because they’re easy to slip on and off and get you through security faster. Wear socks because you will have to take your shoes off and the socks will allow you to do that beforehand, which will create a faster flow in the queue,” she explained.
There are other reasons why you should wear socks at the airport. Dr. Rami Kalis, a professor of pediatrics at Emory University in Atlanta, said: “In passenger screening areas, the floor is often dirty. And there is no sun. I didn’t take samples from those places, but if we did, I’m sure there would be over a hundred different things.’
This statement is supported by a study conducted in Finland. It showed that the security area is the dirtiest place in the airport. This is because almost every passenger has to pass through it on the way from the airport entrance to the plane.
Pediatrician Ebony Vincent also warned against traveling barefoot. “You can pick up a fungus, not to mention a million bacteria and cold sores that remain on carpets, inside hotel rooms, homes, and cars, putting other people at risk,” she said.
