Several things can annoy pilots and flight crew during a flight, and even be perceived as unpleasantly rude by them. The British etiquette expert told why it is better not to clap your hands during the landing of the plane, the Daily Star writes.
In airplane flights, tourists are most annoyed by fellow travelers who get drunk and take off their shoes, but pilots and crew members have their view of the situation, and they dislike other moments the most. Etiquette expert Joe Bryant says it’s applause after a plane lands. Pilots and flight attendants see this as rudeness, distrust, and even sarcasm.
“Applause is not mandatory after landing and is rude to the pilots. If the landing is good, applause suggests surprise at such skill. If the touchdown is bad, the applause will be insultingly sarcastic,” said Jo Bryant.
While clapping when a plane lands is becoming more common, there are more polite ways to show your appreciation. For example, just saying thank you when getting off the plane.
It is not worth it to dump the crew of the plane for many reasons, especially since they can take a kind of revenge on the rude ones. On a Reddit forum, several airline workers admitted to resorting to “crop pollination” as punishment for the worst offenders. This is when a person lets off the gas while standing next to someone and then leaves.
To, on the contrary, achieve the location of the flight attendants, you can bring them a small gift, for example, a box of chocolates or a gift card for a cafe. In return, there is an opportunity to get a free upgrade, flight attendants say. “Bring a small gift to the flight attendants. Chocolate, donuts, Starbucks gift cards. They will pamper you with snacks and drinks throughout the flight,” wrote one of them on the forum.
A passenger who tried the trick added: “If you travel in first class, you will be given extra pillows, blankets, a mattress, slippers, and pajamas, your glass will always be full and your favorite snack will be saved for you. If you travel in economy, you can get premium meals, free snacks with regular purchases, free alcoholic beverages, and more. It’s worth it.”
