Most passengers predictably book seats in the front of the economy class cabin, because they believe that this way they will get off the plane faster after landing at their destination. Therefore, to increase your chances of free seats, you should book seats at the end of the salon. Aviation expert Scott Case gave this advice to air tourists.
“Your best chance of an open seat next to you is to sit further away, as most passengers choose seats at the front of the plane in the aisle or near the window rather than in the middle. The middle seats in the back of the plane are booked last. On a wide-body, two-aisle aircraft, sit in the center sections of the seats, not the side sections. If you are traveling as a couple, book both aisle and window seats. A passenger traveling alone is unlikely to sit in the middle seat, but even if so, it is not difficult to convince him to switch seats with one of you,” explained the expert.
There are a few other tricks you should try to increase your chances of not having any passengers around. For air travel abroad, some tourists use the paid services of sites that show how many seats are left on planes. After paying for access, travelers can see the exact number of unsold tickets in each cabin for each flight on any airline every day. The price of the service is $10 (about 350 hryvnias).
Here is another way to stay alone in a row on board an airplane. However, it is suitable only for those tourists who fly on flights where the specific seat number is not indicated in the tickets (such flights are more common in the USA). So, tourist Mike Davis tested the method he invented in practice and is now happy to share it with other like-minded people on TikTok by posting relevant videos. The point of his actions is that he enthusiastically invites passing passengers to join him. The footage shows him sitting wide-eyed in his seat, patting the empty chair to his right, inviting strangers to sit next to him. Of course, none of them accept the crazy-looking tourist’s offer, instead they walk past and take other seats.
