A travel agent on his blog told tourists about ways to “acquire” the Internet at resorts in Egypt. First of all, he noted that, as a rule, there is a problem with normal Wi-Fi in Egyptian hotels. Most often, it works only in the lobby area and then with interruptions – the only exception is high-class hotels such as Rixos Premium Magawish 5*.
Thus, tourists are advised to buy an Egyptian sim, regardless of whether they need an excellent permanent connection with home or just want to brag about their vacation on social networks and messengers.
- “It is best to buy a sim directly at the airport. It is believed that the best Egyptian Internet is with the operator Vodafone. Qualitative! 28GB will cost $11 or €11. Moreover, the young guys will give you your seven directly for you (if you have an iPhone, for example), insert the Egyptian one. In 5 minutes (not immediately!) you will get access to civilization in the amount of 4G… A passport is mandatory when buying. They take payment in dollars or euros,” the expert said.
- The second option is to buy a sim already in Hurghada or “Sharma”, in “local small shops”. However, the travel agent warns that there are fake kiosks and sims.
- And there is another option to buy a sim at Senzo Mall – the only large shopping center in Hurghada, at the exit towards Makadi.
Tourists were also warned that WhatsApp does not officially work in Egypt. That is, you will not get access to it through the hotel’s Wi-Fi. But he will work with local sevens.
