After the recent terrorist attack in the city, the authorities of Istanbul banned public and cultural events on the popular tourist Istiklal Street in the Beyoglu district. On Friday, November 25, the Hürriyet newspaper warned about the restrictions imposed on residents and guests of the city.
“After the attack, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya issued a decree on the measures to be taken to maintain security, peace, and order on Istiklal Street, as well as to speed up the current pedestrian flow,” the publication says.
It is clarified that installing tables, chairs, boards, stalls, mobile signs, and stands on Istiklal falls under temporary restrictions. Street trading, organization of social, cultural, or commercial events, and collective or individual street music performances, performances, and exhibitions are also prohibited.
