Tourism in Thailand seems to be “getting old”: now it is not debauchery at all and night parties attract tourists there. At least the top 5 activities listed by tourists in a survey by the Tourism Authority of Thailand include Thai cuisine, beaches and Thai massage, cultural tourism, and medicine.
Such statistics are given in a study by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. According to her, the vast majority of respondents said that Thai cuisine is in first place in the lists of tourists’ preferences. It was chosen as entertainment by 91% of respondents. “Gastronomic trips are quite popular among frequent travelers,” the experts added.
The second most popular entertainment was Thai massage and spa treatments. 48% voted for this point. Almost as many tourists need nothing but the sea – another 48% chose beaches and sea entertainment.
Cultural tourism came in fourth place. 46% chose to visit various areas related to the country’s history and culture as their favorite pastime. And the fifth place was taken by medical tourism – people go to the country for various medical services, up to dental treatment. So the calculations of the head of the Thai Ministry of Health that medical tourism can be used as a “key means of obtaining income for the country”, and noble European pensioners will take the place of partygoers, may be justified.
