Three Israeli tourists have been arrested for filming a flight attendant during a pre-flight safety demonstration, Paddle Your Own Kanoo reports.
According to the source, the incident occurred on a Pegasus Airlines flight to Istanbul. As relatives of the passengers told the media, young people began to film the flight attendant and laughed at her at the moment when she talked about safety rules on the plane. The flight attendant approached the travelers and asked them to remove the video, and they complied with her request. On this, as they considered, the conflict was settled.
However, “on arrival in Istanbul, all passengers were ordered to remain in their seats until the police boarded the plane and took out a group of tourists from there. The flight attendant allegedly told law enforcement officers that she was “sexually harassed,” the publication reports. One of the passengers confirmed her words.
The relatives of the arrested passengers decided to tell the unpleasant story since attempts to achieve their release have not yet been successful. Moreover, family members of the detainees claim that they cannot afford to cover expensive legal costs.
According to the source, six of the nine men were released after several hours of interrogation at a Turkish police station, while the other three were transferred to a detention center, where they have been held for more than a week.
An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman said he was aware of the incident but could not say when his fellow citizens would be released.
