The Meteorological Department of Thailand urged tourists not to forget the need for “warmer clothes” and to remember that the threat of downpours and floods remains. According to him, the situation will last for at least a week, as a “strong cold front” will arrive in Thailand from China. It will cause a temperature drop of 3-6 degrees across the country, in addition, heavy rains are expected – mainly in the south of the country.
In the south, tourists and residents were again warned to be prepared for downpours, and most importantly, possible flooding and overflowing rivers. There are also fears in Thailand that the cold weather will increase the number of colds and the spread of viruses, including the still relevant coronavirus in those parts.
We will remind you that a few days ago the department already warned tourists about the risks of sudden floods. The culprit of the situation is the monsoon, or rather two monsoon currents at once, one of which moves south towards the Gulf of Thailand, and the other north through the upper part of Malaysia. Flows are accompanied by showers, storms, and, accordingly, the risk of flash floods.
The situation is hazardous in the provinces of Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Everyone who is there is warned to be careful and to prepare for a sudden rise of water, floods, inundation, and landslides. We will remind you that in one of these provinces such resorts as Samui, Krabi, etc. are located.
Tourists were also warned that the waves in the Gulf of Thailand will be strong, reaching two meters in height and up to three meters during thunderstorms. Sailors and tourist pleasure boats are advised not to go out to sea.
