Global tourism leader Casago has ranked the most mentioned attractions with the hashtag #touristtrap after investigating and reviewing reviews on TripAdvisor.
The list includes well-known places that attract tourists, but are accompanied by inflated prices for entertainment and souvenirs. The source claims that “you can get stuck in a long line and not see what you came for.”
Among the “leaders” was the famous Niagara Falls, which took the “honorable” seventh place in the report of the vacation rental company. According to one disillusioned vacationer, “Here all roads lead to the gift shop.”
Most of the list is made up of restaurants, monuments, museums, markets, and shopping centers. Among them was a whole area of New York – Times Square.
