Tourists face heavy fines for using drones in Cappadocia

In Turkey, authorities in the Cappadocia region have introduced heavy fines for anyone who uses drones for photography and video, including tourists.

Now you will have to pay 16,000 Turkish lira for launching a drone without permission from the authorities.

To import a drone weighing more than 0.5 kg into Turkey, you must obtain permission in advance from the Turkish National Civil Aviation Authority – DGCA. You can apply for a permit online on the department’s website.

To bring a lighter quadcopter, you do not need to apply to the DGCA, but you must be prepared to present it at customs.

The restrictions on drone flights in Cappadocia are likely due to the large number of hot air balloons launched in the region.
