The flow of foreign tourists to the “tourist” capital of Turkey – Antalya in January 2023 increased by 58 percent – to 219 thousand.
Against the backdrop of the pandemic, in 2020 the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey introduced the “Safe Tourism” certification program, thanks to which Antalya topped the list of Mediterranean tourist regions in terms of tourist flow.
The brightest year in the field of tourism was 2019 when about 16 million people visited Antalya.
Last year, the flow of foreign tourists to Antalya amounted to 13.5 million people.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, in January of this year, the largest number of tourists came to sunny Antalya from Russia – 71,000. It was followed by Germany – 35,000, Great Britain – 13,000, Poland – 8,000 tourists, and Israel – 7,000. tourists
The TOP-10 also included Kazakhstan, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Jordan, and Belgium.
The governor of Antalya, Ersin Yaziji, told the “Anadolu” agency that Antalya’s hotels are designed to accommodate 643,000 people, and 392,000 beds are in five-star hotels.
A total of 45 villages and 401 hotels operate in Antalya with a five-star concept.
Yazidzhi noted that the sector is very pleased with the tourism statistics, finally, the tourist season continues in Antalya all year round, which is something that has been dreamed of for many years.
The head of the Association of Professional Hotel Managers (POYD), Ulkai Atmaja, noted that last year was quite productive in Antalya, and 2023 began with good statistics.
“We hope that this year we will surpass the indicators of 2019. In 2019, the tourist flow to Antalya amounted to 15 million 800 thousand, this year we will easily reach the mark of 17 million, the state of affairs indicates exactly this. Such numbers will easily become real for Antalya,” he added.
