Australian exposed scammers in Bali. They are robbing tourists using a “purse full of money” diversion, according to the Daily Mail.
The traveler revealed a criminal trick and warned vacationers against frivolity. According to the woman, it all starts quite innocently.
“A pleasant stranger comes up to a naive tourist and asks to see what the money of their country looks like. While the tourist shows banknotes or coins, the accomplices of the scammer sneak up from behind and grab the wallet. Moreover, both children and women can be partners,” says the tourist.
The Australian said she encountered a common ruse at the Lippo Mall in Badung, Bali’s regency. She admitted that if she did not know the “trick” in advance, she would become a victim.
“The man was very friendly and persuasive,” the traveler explained, describing the scammer.
The post generated a huge response and support. Many members of the group admitted that they fell for a similar trick in different regions of Bali. According to some commentators, to inspire confidence, they may show you a gold watch or a wallet full of banknotes.
This type of theft is a variation of a popular Balinese scam – strangers approach tourists with banknotes in their hands and try to distract them. At this time, the fraudster or his assistant pulls out a wallet, purse, or phone.
Experts urge to observe elementary precautions, but not to succumb to paranoia.
