Tour operators have urged tourists to “have time to get on the train” – Turkey’s financial crisis and the rapid rise in electricity prices and everything else will inevitably lead to the fact that holiday prices in Antalya will soar – from 30% to current prices and “indefinitely.” This is how the situation was assessed by the experts of the tourism market, whose assessment was presented by ATOR.
The increase in prices in Turkey is unprecedented – this has not been the case in almost the entire history of Turkish tourism – recall that hotel owners have literally taken to the streets and say they will close, because in such conditions it is impossible to work. Prices for products increased by 100%, for the maintenance of facilities – 2.5 times, for the pandemic, Turkish hotels were also fully credited. According to the Agency for Regulation and Supervision of Banking in Turkey, as of December 2021, the total amount of debt of Turkish hotels on loans is 157.8 billion lira (+ 49.4% by December 2020), and the amount of overdue debt of hotels 5, 8 billion lire (+ 11.5%). They really have no choice but to go outside. You can read more about the protests of Turkish hoteliers at the link.
In the end, hotels will find it vital to raise prices – to survive – and they are already growing. According to the Central Bank of Turkey, in January 2022 the average price per night in hotels in Antalya (614 lira) increased by 78% compared to December 2021 and 137% per annum (258 lira in January 2021). Those small hotels, whose audience will not pull, just have to close. Accordingly, Turkish experts explained that rising prices for package tours for Ukrainian and Russian tourists are inevitable. The euro exchange rate “does not keep up” with rising costs and can not compensate for them, even if tourists pay in euros.
“A kilogram of ordinary cheese in August cost 30 lira, and now – 90 lira, an increase of 200%. Potatoes and tangerines cost 3 lira, now – 14 lira (+ 365%). Alcohol became more expensive – for example, sparkling wine from 100 lira to 265 lira per bottle, ie + 165%. Can you imagine how much the cost of all-inclusive hotels will increase during the season? Despite the fact that we expect further price increases, “said Turkish representatives.
The conclusion of the experts is simple – as soon as tour operators are shot with an early booking, as tour prices skyrocket. “As soon as the campaign is over, everything will jump by 50%, and in some hotels by 60%. We will all see a very expensive Turkey this summer. “Burning tours will not be accurate in the summer, they” burned “in December,” – said the Turkish expert.

As a result, the tourist market seriously warns – on March 31 a serious jump in hotel prices is possible. At the same time, prices for some hotels are already rising – if they have the opportunity to raise the price, they do it. Also by 35-40% more “concomitant” prices – the same transfers – for example, from the airport of Antalya to Belek price 35 euros, now – already 53, in Sid from 50 to 75 euros, in Kemer – from 40 to 60. in March expect another increase in tariffs – and all these prices are included in the package.
Therefore, tour operators forecast an average price increase of 50-60% at the peak of the season. But this is not the limit. At the same time, experts note that this increase may become critical for the Ukrainian target audience of Turkey. In such economic conditions, hotels will be hit by a “boomerang”: they may miss tourists, and records for the flow of tourists may not be. Advice for those who want to save – they have only one: buy a tour until the end of February, especially since there is a possibility of maneuver. “Now you can pay only 20-25% of the cost of the tour, and the rest before the trip,” – say experts.
In figures, tour operators describe the following prospects. “A week-long tour with departure on June 1 to a high-end hotel in Turkey (Xanadu Resort 5 * High Class) can be purchased for 73,000 UAH. for two with all-inclusive meals, and this price from the tour operator, according to the site, is valid until February 28. When the discounts on early bookings end, such a tour will cost UAH 95,000, and if prices increase during the season by another 30% (minimum estimate) – and quite UAH 123,000.
