Today the world celebrates International Tourism Day

Today, September 27, the world celebrates International Tourism Day. This is a holiday for millions of travelers and tourism industry employees; it is celebrated in more than 150 countries, including Ukraine.

The holiday was established by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1979 in the city of Torremolinos (Spain), and its date coincides with the adoption of the UNWTO Charter in 1970. Since then, tourism has become one of the main sectors of the economy of many countries.

World Tourism Day is actively celebrated in many countries with a developed tourism industry – Greece, Italy, France, Thailand, and others. But the largest events take place in the homeland of the holiday – in Torremolinos, Spain, where a large colorful carnival is held.

DIP congratulates users and all travel lovers on the holiday and wishes them exciting travels, interesting discoveries, and vivid impressions.
