“A trip on an excursion can be dangerous for your health,” – this is the almost verbatim warning for tourists issued by the Italian Ministry of Health. The heat, which has covered the entire territory of the country means the end of classic excursion tourism – tourists and residents are advised not to leave their homes for most of the day, let alone go on excursions.
According to local media, Italy’s Ministry of Health has issued a high-temperature warning in ten cities, including Rome, due to the severe abnormal heat and the potential risks it poses to public health. “It is important for both tourists and residents to prioritize their well-being and take the necessary precautions during periods of intense heat,” it said.
A separate point in the warning is that although sightseeing can be attractive, for personal safety in such extreme weather conditions it is necessary to avoid dehydration, and in the hottest weather to be in an air-conditioned room or at least in the shade. At the same time, the hottest hour, according to the Ministry of Health, lasts from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In general, the warning is quite logical – as experts from the European Space Agency (ESA) said, the temperature in Rome and other cities can rise to +44 degrees. And this is not the limit. The record holders will be the islands that are extremely popular with tourists – Sicily and Sardinia, where the thermometer will go off the scale – +48 degrees of hell are predicted for them.
“And all this is happening at a time when there is a significant influx of tourists on the continent, for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, travel has resumed on such a scale,” added the upset Italians.
