This November, Malaysia’s Port Klang will see the maiden voyage of M/V Piano Land — the world’s first cruise ship designed entirely for Muslim travelers. Onboard: 100% halal food, alcohol-free beverages, dedicated prayer rooms, and prayer time information.
The ship features 10 decks, 880 cabins, and capacity for 1,760 guests. It offers spa treatments, wellness programs, family-friendly clubs, and evening entertainment. Culinary highlights include Hong Kong–style roasted duck prepared exclusively with halal ingredients.
“As a Muslim traveler, I often see companies overlook simple needs: halal food, no alcohol, and seafood when halal meat isn’t available,” says Sara Amro, founder of Halal Expeditions Group.

Partnership and Routes
Developed by Malaysia’s Hwajing Travel & Tours and China’s Astro Ocean Cruise, the project launches on November 29. The itineraries include four-day cruises to Langkawi, Penang, and Port Klang, as well as shorter weekend trips.
While other lines like Saudi Arabia’s Aroya Cruises offer some halal-friendly amenities, M/V Piano Land goes further — blending faith, family, and entertainment in one experience.

A Growing Market
According to the Mastercard-CrescentRating Index 2025, the Muslim travel market is projected to surpass €200 billion by 2030. With Malaysia and Indonesia leading the way, Asia is becoming a key hub for halal tourism.
“This collaboration not only expands cruise options but also reinforces Malaysia’s image as a diverse, inclusive travel destination,” says Jianfeng Tong, Vice President of Astro Ocean Cruise.
