Turkey broke the records of the “before” years, but it is not enough – Turkey, looking at its main competitors, intends to start hunting for certain tourists. Of course, we are talking about “qualified”, that is, the most solvent tourists. This opinion was directly voiced by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the country, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
He noted that tourism in Antalya increased by 16% compared to last year, and Antalya received a record number of tourists in 2023. “Antalya ended this year with a record number of tourists, surpassing the previous record of 2019. Let’s hope that from now on our Antalya will continue to increase these numbers, setting records every year,” the minister initially said.
But then Mr. Ersoy formulated the future goal as follows: “We need to catch qualified tourists.” According to him, the resort has already reached a “certain density” of the number of tourists, and “needs to attract qualified tourists”, i.e. the most able to pay.
It should be noted that the Turkish mass media jealously believed that Spain, which in Turkey is considered one of Spain’s main competitors, achieved a record figure of income from tourism in January-November 2023. In less than a year, the country’s income from tourism reached 100 billion euros.
