A Russian tourist traveling through colorful Thailand said that recently residents began to distinguish between Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian tourists, and expressed sympathy for one and restrained hostility toward the other. She shared the details on her blog.
The girl recalled that until recently there were most Russian-speaking vacationers at Thai resorts. However, after February 24, together with the Russians, many people from Ukraine appeared in Thailand. “Earlier, they considered us one nation and for them, there were no differences in appearance, besides, we all spoke the same Russian language. And now the Thais learned the rest of the geography, finally learning where Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia are located, and that we are all different. And tourists from these countries began to speak their language and now only speak their native language,” the author clarified.
“Generally speaking, Thais don’t like Russians very much. A Thai with whom we lived in Bangkok shared this with me. Thai people think that we are aggressive drunkards. We like to find out about family relationships with everyone, we often make scandals in hotels and restaurants, and we are not ashamed to bargain in such a way that Thais simply get bored of us. But Ukrainians are loved, and even more so now,” the tourist writes.
