“Stuck in time and look like beaches in the 90s,” – this is the definition a tourist gave to the Turkish coast of the Black Sea. While the coast of Antalya has nowhere to fall, the Black Sea beaches of Turkey are not needed by vacationers.
“A large part of the Black Sea coast in Turkey is not suitable for a quality and beautiful beach vacation, and only a small section of the Black Sea — from the city of Samsun to Istanbul — has all the necessary tourist infrastructure,” the traveler also explained on the pages of his blog.
According to him, the coastline is generally clean, but they are undeveloped and abandoned. “They’re just ‘stuck in time’ and look like beaches in the 90s,” he added, pointing to an “artifact” of that time – a lifeguard stand standing alone as the only evidence of a presence there in the former days of tourist “civilization”.
In addition, the author came across a cafe that looks as if “life has stopped there.” “It’s like we got into a time machine and moved 20-30 years ago. The cafe had completely different furniture and chairs that must have been washed up by the sea right there on this beach with beautiful oilcloth on the tables,” he shared. An important fact for vacationers is that the sea was dark brown and “surprisingly dirty water”, so it is hardly safe for swimming. The author saw the reason for this in the large number of mountain rivers flowing into the Black Sea.
However, these shortcomings were offset by a pleasant interaction with the local population, who were friendly and open, without the appearance of greed – a feature characteristic of popular tourist locations.
