The tourist season in Greece in 2022 will start record-breaking early — from March 1. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism Vasilis Kikilias.
According to him, Greece will accept the first charters with tourists in early March. Guests from Germany will arrive at the resorts of the country. And by the end of March, the charter program will expand significantly. For example, by March 27, Rhodes alone will receive over 40 tourist flights per week.
This season, the Greek authorities intend to restore tourism as much as possible after two pandemic years. Booking volumes and airline requests for slots at Greek airports for the summer exceed all forecasts, the country expects several million tourists from Europe and the United States in 2022. Experts predict a cruise boom in Greece: the number of ship calls to the country’s ports will increase by 250%.
This year’s tourist season is expected to last until December.
