A citizen of South Korea decided to make money on his disappearance in Thailand, but instead of a possible income, he ended up in a scandalous situation, reports The Thaiger.
According to local media reports, 24-year-old Kim Hyun-hil was supposed to fly to South Korea from Pattaya but instead decided to fake his kidnapping.
“The man called his parents and said that he was kidnapped at the airport and demanded a ransom. After that, the young man stopped communicating, and his worried relatives contacted the Korean embassy in Thailand.
The deceiver’s plan was simple: he hoped to stay in the country as long as possible to be with his girlfriend from Thailand and trick him into getting money from his parents to support her.
Soon the police of the kingdom found Henhil in his own house. The young man tried to escape but was captured and arrested. Against the imaginary victim of the abduction, a criminal case was opened for an overdue visa for 497 days.
Under Thai law, Kim faces a fine, deportation, and blacklisting if he re-enters Thailand.
