Recovery of tourism after the coronavirus pandemic
The outbreak of the COVID-19 disease began in December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan, and in March 2020, the WHO recognized the coronavirus as a pandemic. The field of tourism has been seriously affected by the consequences of the pandemic, because since March 2020, travel around the world has practically stopped for several months. In the summer of 2020, some countries began to resume tourist travel, but with strict restrictions.
By the summer of 2022, most of the countries of the world and, in particular, of Europe have canceled almost all travel restrictions caused by the pandemic. Spain was the last in Europe to do this in October 2022.
Meanwhile, the summer of 2022 marked a resurgence in tourism as tourists rushed to make up for more than two years of the pandemic. As a result, many popular resorts and destinations were overcrowded, and airports were in chaos.
At the same time, new trends were formed under the conditions of the pandemic. Now tourists are increasingly interested in “healthy” trips closer to nature or family vacations. Also, many are ready to go on a “dream trip” by spending more money on it.
