The stay of tourists in Thailand is now reduced to 15 days

The period of visa-free stay in Thailand for citizens of approximately 60 countries has been reduced from 45 to 30 days since April 1. The local government has not extended the temporary visa relaxation that took effect on October 1, 2022, and was valid until March 31, 2023, the Tourism Authority of Thailand said.

We remind you that until October 1, 2022, tourists could stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days. However, as part of the policy to attract more tourists, this period was increased to 45 days. The visa relaxation was valid until March 31, 2023, with the possibility of extension by a separate resolution. However, the country’s government failed to sign it, and now the rules for visiting Thailand have returned to the old ones.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand tried to extend the 45-day visa but ran into bureaucratic problems. The country’s government recently resigned, and until new elections in May, it works in a limited mode, without the right and ability to sign the necessary documents. It is expected that the situation will improve in May-June.

The reduction of the visa-free period of stay in Thailand should not affect tourists who come to the country on a short-term vacation. However, this will cause difficulties for people who work remotely and were planning to stay in Thailand longer.
