The prices at which tourists can buy fruit in the markets of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh have been announced

Official prices for fruits and vegetables in Egypt were presented by the local mass media, based on the data of the Egyptian counterpart of the State Production and Consumer Service. According to their data, now the dollar exchange rate is “close to 20 Egyptian pounds”, and locals and tourists can buy fruits and vegetables in the markets of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh based on the prices below.

So, the price tag for fruits is as follows:

  • 8 pounds of grapes (15 hryvnias)
  • cantaloupe melon 7 pounds (13 hryvnias)
  • mangoes 10 pounds (19 hryvnias)
  • apples 10 pounds (19 hryvnias)

The price of vegetables is as follows (per kilogram):

  • tomatoes for 4.5 pounds (8.5 UAH)
  • onions for 2.25 pounds (4 hryvnias)
  • potatoes 5.5 pounds (10 hryvnias)
  • eggplants 3.5 pounds (6.5 hryvnias)
  • bell pepper 5.5 pounds (10 hryvnias)

This is the “official” price tag, and most likely the prices will be slightly higher in tourist areas. We will remind you that earlier “DIP” provided a detailed description of the main Egyptian “fruit souvenir”, mango. According to data, there are places in Egypt where it is sold, like potatoes or apples in Ukraine – in buckets. In tourist places, the price of the most popular variety ranges from 15 pounds (38 hryvnias at the current exchange rate) in the market to 25 (47 hryvnias) in the center of Hurghada.
