Vietnam is trying to attract the Indian market as a substitute for the missing Russian and Chinese tourists, in particular the popular Vietnamese resort of Nha Trang. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, director of the Department of Tourism in Khanh Hoa, the province where the resort is located, said India is one of the strongest tourism markets since the pandemic. “A new source in the form of Indian visitors can be a temporary solution against the background of the absence of Chinese and Russian tourists,” he said.
However, the expert admits that “more time and better preparation is needed” to refocus on India. It is trying to reach this destination and the Halong region, whose famous bay was visited by more than 200 Indian tourists last month.
However, for now, without the Chinese, the affairs of the famous Nha Trang resort and Vietnam, in general, are not going very well. It will be recalled that “before” 2019, Nha Trang received more than 3.5 million international visitors, mainly from China and Russia. At that time, Kamran International Airport received more than 30 flights from China and six charter flights from Russia every day. At the moment, Vietnam as a whole has received only 1.44 million foreign tourists, which is only 28% of the annual target of five million.
