The number of tourists who arrived in the capital of Turkey – Istanbul, reached a maximum in ten years, setting an unprecedented record for this time. Such data were provided by official statistics. These are the figures for July when 1.76 million foreign tourists arrived in the “cultural capital” of Turkey. The increase compared to last year was 56%.
According to official statistics, Istanbul received more than 40% of all foreign tourists in the first seven months. Or 8.5 million of the 23 million that Turkey accepted in total.
At the same time, official statistics claim that Russian tourists, who chose Turkey after the introduction of air sanctions, played a significant role in this. The number of German and British tourists also increased. In general, the distribution of markets in Istanbul is the same as in Antalya – Germans are in the first place, Russians are in second place, tourists from the USA are in third place, and in Antalya, the British are in third place.
In numbers, it looks like this: 142,000 German tourists, 133,000 Russians, and 97,000 tourists from the USA arrived in Istanbul. In fourth place is Iran with almost 95,000 tourists. In general, in terms of attendance in Turkey, the Germans took the first place – 2.99 million, and the Russians came second – 2.2 million.
