Air Moldova announced the cancellation of all flights from April 21 to 25.
According to a message on the company’s official pages, this decision is related to financial problems.
“Dear passengers, unfortunately, we are forced to stop flights from April 21 to 25, 2023 due to the lack of financial resources necessary for the company’s activities.”
“Unfortunately, we note that all the efforts and actions taken by the Air Moldova team to manage the situation in which the company found itself have not yet yielded results,” the statement on the Facebook page reads.
Subsequently, the company issued several statements in which it announced the partial preservation of previously canceled flights. April 23 in I from Bologna, April 24 in I from Tbilisi and April 25 in I from Verona.
Air Moldova also reported that they are trying to resolve financial issues with investors.
Financial problems of Air Moldova: what is known
In the autumn of 2022, the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova issued a statement about “deficiencies of a financial nature” after an inspection of Air Moldova. They can prevent the airline from fulfilling its obligations regarding sold tickets. This inspection was carried out after the company repeatedly canceled flights due to technical problems with the planes.
At the beginning of March 2023, it became known that only one aircraft remained at the disposal of Air Moldova. Such a crisis was connected with rumors about the Russian invasion of the territory of Moldova.
At the same time, Air Moldova decided to cancel five flights to other countries at once. On March 2, it became known that the company no longer flies to Prague, London, Paris, Istanbul and Tbilisi.
