A popular TikTok blogger has said that all tourists who visit the Greek islands make a key mistake. More precisely, if a tourist goes to Greece on an all-inclusive tour, where he and his suitcase will be “loaded and delivered” to the hotel, this may not be considered a mistake. But with any travel plans, writes Sophie Jensen, a 31-year-old Greek travel expert from the Netherlands with 780,000 TikTok followers, leave your suitcase at home.
“A big suitcase and too many things is a huge mistake when traveling to Greece. The streets of Greece are essentially one big cluster of stones, stairs, and car-free city centers,” said Sophie. Her 81-day tour of Greece has proved her experience.
“Even though I had a smaller bag to pack a few days of clothes for such situations, I couldn’t think straight and for some reason took a suitcase with me. Big mistake. Avoid it at all costs,” the blogger said.
Also, tourists going to Greece for a long time and on their own are advised to check the ferry schedule and hotel reservations, as well as assess the tourist specifics of the island. “Not all islands are suitable for a budget holiday or a holiday with children, and some islands are not suitable at all if you cannot rent a car,” the expert explained. She also advised against booking hotel rooms without checking the ferry schedule. “Not all islands are connected. So make sure you do not have a non-refundable hotel reservation before deciding how to get from point A to point B.”
