Experts of the Turkish tourism market were requested by the local authorities through the travel media to engage in “investment in toilets” and generally to solve this intimate issue, which is already becoming the main problem for the tourist in Turkey – at least the tourist one. According to Turizm Gunlugu, tourists, especially foreign tourists, who travel to various tourist destinations in Turkey, often face the problem of finding a toilet.
“In many popular tourist areas in Turkey, especially in areas such as Hekceada (the famous “wind island” near the Dardanelles Strait) and Buyukada (one of the Prince’s Islands in the Sea of Marmara), inadequate toilets mar the tourist experience,” the publication complained. On the named islands, it is difficult to find 1-2 public toilets in populated areas, and in the most visited areas, such as Kefalos Beach and Eski Bademli in Hekcead, there are none at all.
“Municipalities and the tourism sector urgently need to solve this toilet problem in popular tourist areas in Turkey. Municipalities that receive income from tourism in these regions should invest in toilets to meet the basic needs of tourists and improve their travel experience,” the authors of the publication said.
They added that solving this intimate issue “may contribute to the further development of tourism in Turkey and the enrichment of visitors’ experiences.”
