The Germans pushed Russian tourists out of Antalya

For the first time in five years, German tourists in Antalya surpassed Russians, who previously made up the largest part of foreign guests. Such a statement was voiced in Dailysabah and other Turkish media by Redzep Yavuz, head of the working group on tourism of the Antalya City Council.

In the first six months of this year, 955,000 German tourists visited Antalya. As of the first week of July, the number of German tourists exceeded 1 million,” he said. In total, the official expects more than 3 million German tourists to visit the resort this year.

“Neither the increase in pandemic cases in recent days nor the increase in prices can prevent Germans from traveling. Tourist activity from Germany, which started in April, continued to grow with the summer holidays,” he emphasized.

Yavuz also added that Turkey bypasses its competitors – first of all, European countries – Spain, Greece, and Italy, Turkey is mostly preferred by family tourists and it is in great demand. “Antalya, in particular, plays an important role in the choice of Germans with its various hotel options and the all-inclusive system,” he added.

As a result, Turkey expects the total number of German tourists in Antalya to reach a total of 3 million by the end of the year.

“If there is no extraordinary situation regarding the pandemic, German tourists will rest in Antalya until the end of November this year. As a result, 3 million German tourists will visit Antalya – for the first time since 2015, when our resort received the largest number of German tourists in its history – 2.9 million vacationers,” the Turkish official assured.
