The first airline has decided to ban free hand luggage to cut even more money from tourists. The relevant new rules are being introduced by the KM Malta airline, reformed Air Malta, which plans to deliver European tourists to Malta’s resorts from 2024.
As reported by the European press, in messages from the new carrier, tourists were surprised to learn that the cheapest economy fares were practically left without hand luggage. In total, the carrier offered four economy fares — and only the more expensive fares, economy plus and flexible economy fares, offer free carry-on baggage weighing up to 10 kg.
The same tourists who decided to take a basic economy class and simply economy class will find out at the booking stage that they have only 2 kg of free hand luggage. They can put the remaining 10 kg in luggage only for an additional fee.
Tourists, of course, are dissatisfied and flooded the company with relevant reviews. “Ridiculously. To go even for the weekend with 2 kg of hand luggage is unreal,” writes one tourist. “It’s just a scam. Such a tariff is needed only for you to buy cheaply, and then additional funds will be taken from you,” users write.
