Finland’s largest air carrier, Finnair, will cancel around 550 flights this week due to a union strike against the Finnish government, which is scheduled for February 1 and 2. This is reported by Reuters.
“The political strike will affect the operation of Helsinki Airport and Finnair flights,” the carrier said in a statement.
The company added that Finnair will be canceling flights on its systems one flight at a time, starting on the morning of Tuesday, January 30. Customers will be offered alternative routes.
Finnish unions have been protesting in recent months against the government’s plan to favor local labor agreements over centralized ones, limit political strikes and make it easier to terminate labor contracts.
