The Czech Republic is closing the skies for Russian airlines behind Poland

The Czech government has banned Russian airlines from flying from Prague to Russia’s two largest airports. Restrictions have been imposed since February 26 as part of sanctions imposed on the Kremlin over Russia’s actions in Ukraine, according to the Zpravy newspaper.

In particular, Russian airlines will no longer be able to operate flights Prague – Moscow and Prague – St. Petersburg. The relevant decision was made by the Minister of Transport of the country Martin Kupka on Friday evening.

In addition, the Czech Republic has already stopped accepting documents for long-term workers and student visas, as well as for registration of GNP from Russian citizens. At the same time, requests from Russians who are already in the republic to extend their status will now be considered in more detail and care.

The Prime Minister of the Republic Petro Fiala said that sanctions against Russia will be “far and will affect the aviation, banking and energy sectors” of Russia.

It is noted that the Czech side actively supports Warsaw in this matter, which has also restricted the flights of Russian carriers over Polish territory.

“The transport ministries of the Czech Republic and Poland agree that such measures could affect the Kremlin’s actions. We call for a peaceful settlement of the situation, “Petro Fiala added.
