The Cypriot government is allocating a grant of 33 million euros to improve the quality of tourist services and tourist infrastructure in the country, according to BNR. Four new programs are funded by European funds under the National Plan for Reconstruction and Sustainable Development.
The new grant plans to be announced by the government are mostly aimed at the hotel business in rural, mountainous and remote areas. The goal is to increase its competitiveness by enriching the tourist product, as well as to support the revival of these areas, said Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios. The grant will improve the quality of tourism services, including through digitalization, and modernize existing infrastructure.
Ten million euros in grants will be allocated to promote health tourism.
The introduction of 12 special quality certification marks is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Tourism, added Savvas Perdios. They confirm to guests from the country and abroad that the companies and municipalities that own them meet specific and generally accepted criteria for the quality of tourist services. Such certificates are issued within the framework of programs implemented by the Ministry, such as “Cyprus Breakfast”, “Taste of Cyprus”, “Colorful Villages of Cyprus” and others.
