The Federal Statistical Office of Germany conducted a study of conditions and prices at popular resorts around the world and announced the countries in which the German tourist is most profitable to rest in the summer of 2023. Albania unexpectedly took the first place, and Turkey came second, Haberturk writes.
During the study, 26 countries were compared in terms of cost of living and daily expenses. The most expensive holiday destinations were Switzerland, Iceland, and Denmark, where a German tourist will have to pay a nominal 1,600 euros for the same services for which he would pay only 1,000 euros in Germany. First of all, it is about renting housing, visiting restaurants, and other expenses.
The most profitable for Germans were Albania, Turkey, and Bulgaria, where for the same set of services he will have to pay 56% less money than in his native Germany.
A little less, but it is still profitable to rest in Portugal and Malta, where prices are 28% lower than in Germany, as well as in Greece, where they are 21% cheaper. In Spain, Poland and the Czech Republic, a tourist from Germany pays 18% less for a vacation than in his homeland. But in France and Italy, the prices are almost the same as in Germany.
The president of the working group on tourism of the Antalya City Council, Recep Yavuz, emphasized the importance of the conducted research, where Turkey took 2nd place. He believes that this will increase German interest in holidaying in Turkey, as trends in the cost of living and rising costs are now preventing holidaymakers from budgeting for their holidays. The latter in the country was noticed by the shortening of vacations, fewer tourists, and less demand for spacious rooms, as well as excursions.
