For tourists who care about the culture of Thailand and educational tours, the Thai authorities have made a chic New Year’s gift. Thailand’s Department of Fine Arts has opened all of the kingdom’s national museums and historical sites free of charge. Exactly on New Year’s Day — from December 30, 2022, to January 2, 2023. And also recommended the most interesting things for tourists in the Thai press.
Thus, at the National Museum of Chao Sam Phraya in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, a new exhibition awaits tourists, which presents historical gold jewelry from the ancient period of Ayutthaya (1351–1767). Bangkok’s National Museum will display “the highly revered Phra Phutta Sihing Buddha image, second in importance only to the Emerald Buddha,” which was brought to Bangkok from Chiang Mai in 1795 by Viceroy Maha Sura Singhanat, brother of King Rama I.
Also, from December 30 to January 2, the National Museum will host “Night at the Museum” events from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tourists may be interested in the fact that they will include cooking demonstrations by world-renowned chefs.
Another completely free attraction awaits tourists at the Pattaya resort – this is a fireworks show. “Which was canceled and then allowed again,” local media reported. They also warn tourists that New Year’s celebrations on the popular Bangkok street Khaosan Road will be shortened – the festival will continue, but will not last until the morning.
