High-temperature records were set yesterday in France, Spain, and Italy.
The French meteorological service reported that in the south of France in the Ariège department yesterday, July 18, the air warmed up to the highest value on record – + 40.6 °С. A record high temperature was also recorded in Renno in Corsica – + 38.3 °С.
A record was also registered in Rome, the capital of Italy: yesterday the air temperature reached +41.8°С. And in Spanish Catalonia, the air warmed to + 45 °С.
Earlier, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warned that temperatures above +40 °C would last for several days in many regions of the world. It was about North America, Asia, North Africa, and the Mediterranean.
