Spain will ban indecent stag and hen parties

The new mayor of Seville, Jose Luis Sanz, has announced that the city council will pass a law banning indecent behavior during bachelor and bachelorette parties.

The law will prohibit people from committing “indecent acts” in the streets and wearing underwear in public places, as well as any “costumes containing sexist elements or messages” and “costumes that may violate the moral or sexual integrity of another person.”

Violators of the rules face a fine, the exact amount of which has not yet been named. By the way, in 2022 in the Spanish resort of Malaga introduced fines of 750 euros for walking on the street in underwear or with an inflatable doll.

The mayor said the city is not interested in the tourists that bachelor and bachelorette parties bring to Seville.

“Anyone can celebrate a bachelor party in Seville. What we do not approve of are groups of people dressed however they want, with brass bands behind them, disturbing many Seville residents – especially in the areas of the historic center, who also have the right to enjoy their city,” Sanz said.

The decision to pass the new law followed anger and complaints from locals as the city has seen a growing influx of tourists since the pandemic.
