Hong Kong aims to lift the lockdown on hotels in November ahead of the world bankers’ summit and international rugby competitions, Breaking Travel news reports.
Hong Kong has already reduced hotel quarantines from 21 days to three days. And even as many Asian hubs, such as Singapore, lift all pandemic-related restrictions, Hong Kong cannot abandon them.
Hong Kong chief executive John Lee is leaning towards lifting hotel lockdowns closer to the world bankers’ summit and international rugby competitions in November. His statement said that the government will continue to adjust anti-epidemic measures in accordance with the development of the epidemic and the analysis of scientific data.
“The government is well aware of the need to maintain communication with both the mainland and the international world, including reducing the inconvenience to travelers. The well-being of citizens, especially the elderly and children, must be protected,” he said.
In turn, Health Minister Lo Chung-Mau wants to tighten restrictions as cases rise, hoping that suppression of cases will lead to the opening of the border with the mainland. Therefore, in the near future, it was decided to take tough measures to combat the epidemic.
