Qatar Airways has been named the World’s Best Airline for a record seventh time at the World Airline Awards 2022, winning the prestigious Airline of the Year 2022 title.
After two years of virtual award ceremonies, the World Airline Awards 2022 has returned to its regular format, with airlines from all over the world taking part. The event took place at the historic Langham Hotel in London.
Widely known as the “Oscars of the Aviation Industry”, the World Airline Awards were established in 1999. It is considered completely independent and impartial since all costs for customer surveys and awarding winners are paid by the organizers – Skytrax.
Qatar Airways Group CEO, HE Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Being named World’s Best Airline has always been a goal, but winning it for the seventh time and receiving three additional awards is a testament to the hard work of our people. Singapore Airlines was ranked second in the world, third by Emirates, and fourth by ANA All Nippon Airways. In fifth place is Qantas Airways. In total, there were more than 350 airlines on the preliminary list.
Among the winners of the award with the maximum number of awards are Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines with 9 statuettes. In North America, Delta Air Lines has been successful, winning six awards. Europe is dominated by Turkish Airlines, which has received four awards, including the title of the best airline in Europe.
India’s Vistara was another winner with two awards: “Best Airline in India and South Asia” and “Best Personnel Among Airlines in India and South Asia”.
airBaltic celebrated its success for the first time at the World Airline Awards 2022, receiving the awards for Best Airline in Eastern Europe, Best Airline in Europe, and Best Airline Staff in Eastern Europe.
