New EU sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the recognition of the independence of the LNR and the DNR may deprive Russians of the opportunity to travel to third countries. This was stated by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda.
According to him, the prohibitive measures by the European Union will be quite tough. At the same time, these restrictions will affect not only individual Russian politicians, but the entire population of the country.
Nevertheless, Andrzej Duda noted that such sanctions upset Poland, but Europe sees no alternative options for influencing the Kremlin. “As a neighbor of Russia, I will do this with regret, speaking out in favor of sanctions that will block travel opportunities for Russian citizens,” the official explained during a meeting in Kiev with the presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, Volodymyr Zelensky and Gitanas Nauseda.
It should be noted that earlier the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Latvian Seimas, Rihards Kols, proposed to suspend the issuance of tourist visas to Russians. However, fellow officials were skeptical about this idea, calling such restrictions “draconian.”
