Thailand has launched a digital game that gives discounts and privileges to tourists. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) presented the second season of the innovative project “Amazing Thailand NFTs Season 2”. In this game, similar to the once-popular Pokemon hunt, tourists can collect Non-Fungible Token (NFT) virtual art items at 20 iconic tourist attractions across the country until April 30 and earn privileges and special discounts valid until 31 July Including discounts on air tickets, accommodation, food, as well as tickets to some museums – up to free entry.
What does a tourist need to do for this? To participate in the game, they must download the YAKS app (available for Android and iOS) and receive their first NFT virtual art “items” after registration. Participants can then check in within a two-kilometer radius of a participating tourist attraction to pick up their next NFT. Each such item designed in Riety Studio is a Polaroid photograph of a tourist attraction.
These items, divided into two categories, “Common” and “Rare”, will be stored in the digital wallet of travelers who collect them. All of them can be used to unlock privileges and discounts on flights, accommodation, food and beverage, shopping, and other travel offers. Also, “collectors” will have discounts up to free entry to such attractions as Wat Phra Keo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), and Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn).
As the head of TAT Jutasak Supasorn reported, last season tourists accumulated 17,118 NFT from 3,999 items in each of the five locations, the second season promises to be even more spectacular. Last year, the project stimulated tourism spending of around 43 million baht. “The expanded Amazing Thailand NFT initiative highlights TAT’s commitment to using technology and innovation to transform Thai tourism into smart tourism. Digital technology is a game changer and we want to inspire tourists to travel more in Thailand with NFT Digital Art. Among them, we will present three main varieties of our products to tourists: “nature to be preserved”, “food to be explored” and “mystery to be discovered” and offer them a new significant travel experience,” said the head of TAT.
