Like a pig, but friendly – that’s what they usually say when they overeat tasty food and then suffer, but do not regret anything. Pigs, of course, know a lot about pleasure, especially those that live on a separate island in the Atlantic Ocean.
The island with no more than a kilometer area is part of the Bahamas and is popular with tourists. True, except for pigs, no one else lives here. All day long, the pigs bathe in warm ocean water, enjoy the sun, and communicate with tourists who love to feed them.
It remains a mystery how the pigs got to the island because there are no other ways except by water, and pigs cannot swim long distances.
There are several versions. Someone believes that pirates brought pigs to the island several centuries ago. For them, the island could be a transshipment base, where they rested and replenished their supplies. According to another version, a ship carrying pigs crashed near the island. Another opinion is that the pigs were relocated by farmers from the nearest island so as not to embarrass tourists with the smell. But on the island, pigs live as they want, and no one is breeding them. And the last version – the most likely – pigs were brought here specifically to attract tourists. Piglets cope with this task perfectly well. And the locals make money by bringing curious travelers here. In the end, everyone is satisfied and happy.
