According to the DPA, the authorities of the Spanish resort island of Ibiza are using foreigners under cover to introduce illegal coupons, which could violate measures against the spread of the new coronavirus and other rules.
“The project started a few days ago and was originally planned to be extended until the end of August,” local government spokesman Armando Tour told DPA today.
After consulting with the police, the local authorities turned to a detective agency, which in turn hired many freelance agents.
“These are mostly foreigners between the ages of 30 and 40 with medium or high purchasing power, because this is the main distinguishing feature of participants in such events,” Tur explained.
Illegal coupons are sometimes subject to an entry fee in excess of 100 euros ($ 118). There were cases when such parties gathered more than 500 participants.
There is a good reason for unusual methods of power. The police lack staff, and illegal parties are almost always held in some parts of apartments or houses. In Spain, the police can not enter private property just because there is a party, according to DPA.
