Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP) has submitted an annual report on safe destinations for tourists. This year, fears related to the coronavirus pandemic were included in the potential threats, Dip.org.ua reports with reference to Travel Pulse.
The ranking also took into account terrorist threats, weather, health and safety measures for women and minorities. BHTP’s findings are based on data from several third-party sources and a survey of thousands of travelers who have personally visited these destinations. Authoritative sources consulted include indexes and information from the Global Peace Index, GeoSure Global, US Department of State travel safety ratings, and COVID-19 statistics from Our World in Data (an initiative of Oxford University).
As a result, Iceland led the top 10 safest countries in the world. It is followed by New Zealand and Canada. Sweden lags behind the top three. Also among the safest countries for travelers are Japan, Australia, Switzerland, Ireland and Germany. Closes the top ten in the UK.
The world’s ten safest cities to travel to this year were based on Expedia and American Express Travel, GeoSure Global, The Economist’s Safe Cities Index and the current Numbeo Crime Index.
The rating looks like this:
1. Montreal (Canada)
2. Amsterdam (Netherlands)
3. Tokyo (Japan)
4. Singapore
5. Sydney (Australia)
6. London (United Kingdom)
7. Barcelona (Spain)
8. Hong Kong (China)
9. Berlin (Germany)
10. Rome (Italy)
Earlier, experts from the international company in the field of health and safety International SOS have already provided a rating of safe countries. Then the top five was led by Norway.
