Eurocontrol – the European air safety organization – has updated the rating of the largest airports in the region in terms of the number of flights. As of early February 2022, Istanbul Airport was recognized as the leader with 893 departures and arrivals per day, Dip.org.ua reports with reference to Avianews.
In second place is Amsterdam Schiphol with a score of 826 flights per day, in third place is Barajas in Madrid, through which 778 departures and arrivals were carried out per day. The top 10 also included Frankfurt, Charles de Gaulle (Paris), Heathrow (London), Sabiha Gokcen (Istanbul), Munich and Barcelona. Lisbon closes the top ten in this indicator.

Previously, Istanbul Airport became the busiest airport in Europe in 2021. They served almost 40 million passengers.
