The love of loud music at popular resorts will cost tourists dearly – noisy tourists on the beaches will be fined up to 4,000 euros or more than 160,000 hryvnias at the current exchange rate. Tourists have been taken care of on the beaches of Portugal, where the National Maritime Authority (AMN) has ordered a ban on the use of loudspeakers or other portable sound equipment that could disturb others on the beaches.
At the same time, the administration urged tourists to report violators. Anyone who will be disturbed by the noise of the loudspeakers during recreation can contact the authorities, the department’s decision states.
“Oversight rests with the local authorities of the National Maritime Administration and the police or administrative authorities competent in the matter or area of jurisdiction,” the document says. Fight against noise pollution involves fines, and if individuals, including tourists, are “extorted” from 200 to 4 thousand euros; then, for organizations, fines start from 2,000 euros and then reach 36,000 euros.
The size depends mainly on awareness. For the first time, a tourist involved for exceeding the volume will be fined for 200 euros, but the “malign recidivist” will have to pay much more serious amounts.
The ban was announced ahead of the peak tourist season in popular areas such as the Algarve. The beach receives a million tourists each year from the UK alone, and the total number of foreign tourists is much higher.
