Tourist visas that the Schengen countries have already issued to Russians should be canceled. This statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis.
According to him, such a decision must be made at the level of the entire European Union, and not just individual states. Otherwise, no sanctions and restrictions on Russian tourists’ work. They continue to travel to Europe using the current rules for crossing borders within the EU.
“A citizen of the Russian Federation can obtain a German visa at the consulate and go through Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland – to where he wants to spend his vacation,” the official explained.
In this regard, Gabrielius Landsbergis proposes at least to stop issuing visas to Russians and at the very least to cancel valid entry documents. “The best option would be a pan-European decision to declare these visas invalid,” concluded the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
