Italy and Slovenia will restore the rail route between the countries after more than 100 years, CNN Travel reports.
The new high-speed Frecciarossa train will run from Milan to Ljubljana, with a journey time of seven hours. The train will pass through the Italian cities of Venice and Trieste, and will also make stops at several famous natural attractions in Slovenia, including the Postojna and Škocjan caves and the village of Lipica.
The route will be resumed 100 years later; the first train departed on it after the collapse of the Habsburg Empire in 1918.
Now trains between Milan and Ljubljana will start running once a day in April, later the frequency may be increased.
